The southern gastric-brooding frog swallowed her own eggs, switched off her stomach acid, and raised her young inside her stomach for about six weeks. Then fully formed baby frogs hopped out of her mouth. Scientists found this frog in the early 1970s, and within about ten years it had disappeared.
